Mr. GOUDYMA (Ukraine) said that his delegation attached very high priority under item 138, to the review of the rates of reimbursement to the Governments of troop-contributing States (A/48/912) and the report of the open-ended working group to examine the placement of Member States in the groups for the apportionment of peace-keeping expenses.

At its 70th meeting, on 25 August 1993, on the proposal of the Chairman, the Committee decided, without objection, to recommend that the General Assembly defer to the forty-eighth session further consideration of the question of the placement of Member States into the groups for the apportionment of peace-keeping expenses (see para. 8).
٣ - في الجلسة ٧٠، المعقودة في ٢٥ آب/أغسطس ١٩٩٣، قررت اللجنة، دون اعتراض بناء على اقتراح من الرئيس، أن توصي بأن ترجئ الجمعية العامة إلى دورتها الثامنة واﻷربعين مواصلة النظر في مسألة تصنيف الدول اﻷعضاء في مجموعات ﻷغراض قسمة نفقات حفظ السلم )انظر الفقرة ٨(.

Mr. DAMICO (Brazil) said that the programme of work indicated that the meetings of the open-ended Working Group on the placement of Member States into the groups for the apportionment of peace-keeping expenses would be announced at a later date; however, in the Journal of Wednesday, 23 March 1994 (No. 1994/56 (Part I)), it was announced that those meetings would be held on 24 and 25 March 1994.

66. In view of the ongoing transformation in the character of United Nations peace-keeping activities, he expressed of hope that the savings to be realized from reduced peace-keeping expenditures would be directed to United nations development activities.
