The representative of Bangladesh, speaking on behalf of the least developed countries, said that while wide coverage had been provided in the schemes of a number of preference-giving countries, the exclusion of textiles, clothing, carpets, footwear, leather goods, etc., from some GSP schemes had substantially reduced the coverage of industrial products.
٣٣- وتحدث ممثل بنغلاديش نيابة عن أقل البلدان نمواً فقال إنه في حين أن الشمول الواسع متوفر في مخططات عدد من البلدان المانحة لﻷفضليات إلا أن استبعاد المنسوجات والملابس والسجاد واﻷحذية والمصنوعات الجلدية، الخ، من بعض مخططات اﻷفضليات قد خفض إلى درجة كبيرة من شمول المنتجات الصناعية.

The representative of Benin, speaking on behalf of the least developed countries (LDCs), noted that export diversification, access to markets and competitiveness, as well as trade in services and its implications for development, and the links between trade, environment and development, were all areas that should be accorded more attention.
31- وتحدث ممثل بنـن نيابة عن أقل البلدان نمواً فلاحظ أن تنويع الصادرات وإتاحة فرص الوصول إلى الأسواق والقدرة على التنافس، فضلاً عن التجارة في الخدمات وما يترتب عليها من آثار إنمائية، والروابط بين التجارة والبيئة والتنمية، هي جميعها مجالات ينبغي إيلاؤها المزيد من الاهتمام.

The representative of Benin, speaking on behalf of the least developed countries, noted with satisfaction that more than half of UNCTAD operations were implemented at the interregional level, thus allowing all developing countries to benefit from UNCTAD's support.
16- وتكلم ممثل بنن نيابة عن أقل البلدان نمواً فلاحظ بعين الرضا أن أكثر من نصف عمليات الأونكتاد ينفذ على المستوى الأقاليمي مما يتيح للبلدان النامية كافة الاستفادة من دعم الأونكتاد.

The representative of Benin, speaking on behalf of the least developed countries, said that beginning in the 1980s many African countries had initiated structural adjustment programmes in cooperation with the Bretton Woods institutions, with the aim of liberalizing the economy, gaining control over public spending, promoting economic growth and providing incentives for investment.
141- وتكلم ممثل بنن نيابة عن أقل البلدان نمواً فقال إنه اعتباراً من الثمانينات شرعت بلدان أفريقية كثيرة في تنفيذ برامج التكيف الهيكلي بالتعاون مع مؤسسات بريتون وودز بهدف تحرير الاقتصاد، والتحكم في الإنفاق العام، وتعزيز النمو الاقتصادي، وتوفير الحوافز للاستثمار.

Statements were also made by the representatives of the Republic of Korea (on behalf of the Environmental Integrity Group), El Salvador (on behalf of the Central American countries), the United Republic of Tanzania (on behalf of the least developed countries), Kenya (on behalf of the African Group), and Netherlands (on behalf of the European Community and its member States).

24. Mr. Rai (Nepal), speaking on behalf of the least developed countries, said that the goals set out in the Brussels and Almaty Programmes of Action would not be met unless special attention was paid to the needs of the least developed countries and landlocked developing countries.
24 - السيد راي (نيبال): تحدث نيابة عن أقل البلدان نمواً وقال إن الأهداف المحددة في برنامج عمل بروكسل وبرنامج عمل ألماتي لن تتحقق ما لم يتم إيلاء اهتمام خاص لحاجات أقل البلدان نمواً والبلدان النامية غير الساحلية.

44. Mr. Exantus (Haiti), speaking on behalf of the 14 member countries of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), said that the Community aligned itself with the statements delivered by Sudan on behalf of the Group of 77 and China and by Nepal on behalf of the least developed countries.
