The Committee adopted decision POPRC-9/7, by which it endorsed the document set out in the annex to the decision outlining examples of practices used and decisions made in the evaluation of chemicals by the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee in accordance with Annex E to the Convention. The decision is set out in annex I to the present report.

The Committee had also considered the process for the evaluation of perfluorooctane sulfonic acid, its salts and perfluorooctane sulfonyl fluoride, the approach to the evaluation of chemicals in accordance with Annex E to the Convention and how to assess the possible impact of climate change on the work of the Committee, and it had agreed on draft guidance on those matters for consideration by the Conference of the Parties at its next meeting.

At its seventh meeting, the Persistent Organic Pollutants Review Committee adopted decision POPRC7/3 on hexachlorobutadiene. By paragraph 2 of that decision, the Committee decided to establish an ad hoc working group to review further the proposal to list hexachlorobutadiene in Annexes A, B, and/or C to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants and to develop a draft risk profile in accordance with Annex E to the Convention.
