2. Upon the expiration of the term of the first Under-Secretary-General on 15 November 1999, the Secretary-General appointed Under-Secretary-General Hans Corell as Overseer of the Office until the selection and appointment of a new Under-Secretary-General.

At this point, I should recognize and pay tribute to Hans Corell, who as Legal Counsel and Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs made a distinctive contribution to the establishment of the Special Court.

In the area of teaching, study, dissemination and wider appreciation of international law, my delegation highly appreciates the efforts made by the Office of Legal Affairs under the leadership of Under-Secretary-General Hans Corell to promote the principles of international law by publishing useful documents and disseminating valuable information on United Nations activities in this field.

On Sunday, 14 June, in the afternoon, Mr. Hans Corell, the Legal Counsel of the United Nations, who will serve as the Representative of the Secretary-General during the Conference, will hold a press briefing for all journalists attending the Conference.
سيعقد السيد هانس كوريل المستشار القانوني لﻷمم المتحدة، ممثل اﻷمين العام أثناء المؤتمر، يوم اﻷحد ١٤ حزيران/يونيه، بعد الظهر، اجتماعا إعلاميا يحضره جميع الصحفيين المتابعين للمؤتمر.
