٧ - وأبلغت المستشارة الخاصة اللجنة بأن الاجتماع العاشر للدول اﻷطراف في الاتفاقية سيعقد يوم ١٧ شباط/فبراير ١٩٩٨، وذلك لانتخاب ١٢ عضوة في اللجنة لمدة أربع سنوات تبدأ في ١ كانون الثاني/ يناير ١٩٩٩.

11. the Special Adviser informed the Committee that in its resolution 53/118 of 9 December 1998, the General Assembly had urged States to ratify or accede to the Convention and to do so as soon as possible.

12. the Special Adviser informed the Committee that, since the twenty-first session of the Committee two States, the Niger and Tuvalu, had become party to the Convention, bringing the number of States parties to 165.
12 - وأبلغت المستشارة الخاصة اللجنة بأنه منذ الدورة الحادية والعشرين للجنة، انضمت إلى الاتفاقية دولتان، هما النيجر وتوفالو، بحيث بلغ عدد الدول الأطراف في الاتفاقية 165 دولة.

9. the Special Adviser informed the Committee that, as a result of the implementation of the Secretary-General’s reform proposals, the Division for the Advancement of Women was now part of a new department, the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, whose mandate was to focus on work in the area of normative, analytical and advisory services.
٩ - وأبلغت المستشارة الخاصة اللجنة بأنه نتيجة لتنفيذ مقترحات اﻷمين العام المتعلقة باﻹصلاح، أصبحت اﻵن شعبة النهوض بالمرأة جزءا من إدارة جديدة، هي إدارة الشؤون الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، التي تتمثل ولايتها في تركيز العمل في مجال الخدمات القانونية والتحليلية والاستشارية.

15. the Special Adviser informed the Committee that she had addressed the Human Rights Committee at its seventy-eighth session, on 15 July 2003 in Geneva, and had held a useful and constructive exchange with members of that Committee on a wide range of issues.
15 - وأبلغت المستشارة الخاصة اللجنة المعنية بالقضاء على التمييز ضد المرأة بأنها خاطبت اللجنة المعنية بحقوق الإنسان في دورتها الثامنة والسبعين، المعقودة في 15 تموز/يوليه 2003، في جنيف، وتبادلت الآراء بشكل مفيد وبناء مع أعضاء تلك اللجنة، بشأن طائفة واسعة من المسائل.

31. the Special Adviser informed the Committee that in relation to the fiftieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the forty-second session of the Commission on the Status of Women, held from 2 to 13 March 1998, reviewed critical areas of concern of the Beijing Platform for Action that relate to the theme of human rights, i.e., violence against women, human rights of women, women and armed conflict and the girl child.
٣١ - وأبلغت المستشارة الخاصة اللجنة أنه بمناسبة الذكرى السنوية الخمسين لﻹعلان العالمي لحقوق اﻹنسان، قامت لجنة مركز المرأة، في دورتها الثانية واﻷربعين، المعقودة في الفترة من ٢ إلى ١٣ آذار/ مارس ١٩٩٨، باستعراض مجالات الاهتمام الحاسمة لمنهاج عمل بيجين التي تتصل بموضوع حقوق اﻹنسان، وهي العنف الموجه ضد المرأة، وحقوق اﻹنسان المتعلقة بالمرأة، والمرأة والنزاع المسلح، والطفلة.
