To support the work of ICG, the Office for Outer Space Affairs, as the ICG executive secretariat, is focusing on promoting the use of GNSS technologies as tools for scientific applications, including the effects of space weather on GNSS, education and training on GNSS, and utilizing regional reference systems and reference frames.

Workshop thematic sessions focused on the following topics: trends in satellite-based navigation systems; GNSS services and reference frames; GNSS augmentation and applications; activities in the field of GNSS applications; education and training on GNSS; and case studies.

In compliance with the ICG workplan, as adopted at its first meeting in 2006, the work of ICG is organized through four working groups, which focus on: compatibility and interoperability (Working Group A); enhancement of the performance of GNSS services (Working Group B); information dissemination and capacity-building (Working Group C); and reference frames, timing and applications (Working Group D).

It is recommended that quantifiable targets and benchmarks should be set during the Decade by States and the United Nations system to directly improve the lives of indigenous peoples and that such targets and benchmarks should be regularly monitored every two years, or half way through and at the end of the Decade.

347. Since the 1990s, many Governments have come to realize the discrepancy between the increasingly complex nature of current flows of migrants and the traditional institutional and legal frames of reference for immigration whereby each category of migrants is clearly and unequivocally identified.
