The integrated mission planning process and the integrated strategic framework (see A/65/669) are mechanisms designed to help coordinate United Nations activities and to ensure that efforts to address the root causes of conflict continue without interruption after the departure of a peacekeeping operation as well as to ensure a smooth transition to peacebuilding.
