94. From 3 to 8 November 2011, the Personal Envoy visited the capitals of the member States of the Group of Friends of Western Sahara and held several bilateral meetings with the parties and the neighbouring states.

This trip also gave the Envoy the opportunity to convey to the parties and neighbouring states the unanimous concern of the international community over the risk of increased instability and spillover owing to the conflict in Mali and the pressing need to engage in genuine negotiations to find a peaceful solution to the Western Sahara conflict.

There is no date yet for the next joint negotiating session, but bilateral consultations and possible shuttle diplomacy are due to start in September 2013, following preparatory bilateral consultations with the parties and neighbouring states on the margins of the sixty-eighth session of the General Assembly.
