10. Legal, policy and institutional framework. The establishment of an international arrangement on forests, which includes the United Nations Forum on Forests, and the support of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests to the work of the Forum, represents a landmark in the development of an institutional framework for sustainable forest management.

IV. Activities of international organizations 19. International organizations, the Collaborative Partnership on Forests and the United Nations system, including the functional commissions and the regional commissions, as well as United Nations system agencies, funds and programmes will play a critical role in supporting and organizing Forests 2011 activities at the global and regional levels.

(a) Take into account specifically the work of the Forum and its members and the Collaborative Partnership on Forests in facilitating implementation of the proposals for action of the Intergovernmental Panel on Forests (IPF)/Intergovernmental Forum on Forests (IFF);

(i) Call on countries and the Collaborative Partnership on Forests to accelerate implementation of the IPF/IFF proposals for action and intensify efforts on reporting to the Forum to contribute to an assessment of progress in 2005.

(a) " International arrangement on forests " means the arrangement consisting of the United Nations Forum on Forests and the Collaborative Partnership on Forests established with the objective of promoting the management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests and to strengthen long-term political commitment to this end;
