The Israeli occupation of Palestinian and other Arab territories and the lack of water and wastewater treatment facilities in the occupied territories, as well as the continued conflict in the Middle East, are major obstacles for the sustainable development of water resources in this part of the Arab Region.
ويُشكل الاحتلال الإسرائيلي للأراضي الفلسطينية والعربية الأخرى والافتقار إلى مرافق معالجة المياه ومعالجة مياه الصرف في الأراضي المحتلة، فضلا عن استمرار النزاع في الشرق الأوسط، عقبات رئيسية أمام تحقيق التنمية المستدامة لموارد المياه في هذا الجزء من المنطقة العربية.

There are numerous reasons for this failure, including the continued occupation of the Palestinian and other Arab territories by the Zionist regime and its persistent violations of the rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to selfdetermination and especially the legitimate and inalienable right of the Palestinian refugees to return to their homeland.
