27. On the issue of desertification, the session recognized that combating desertification and land degradation and mitigating the effect of droughts required policies that link, inter alia, land use, food security and livelihoods to the goals of sustainable development.
27 - وفيما يتعلق بالتصحر سلمت الدورة بأن مكافحة التصحر وتدهور الأراضي والتخفيف من آثار الجفاف يتطلب سياسات تشمل في جملة أمور ربط استخدام الأراضي وتوفير الأمن الغذائي وسبل كسب العيش بأهداف التنمية المستدامة.

(b) Letter of application on the entity's letterhead, addressed to the Executive Secretary of UNCCD, stating the motives for the application and indicating how its work could contribute to combating desertification and land degradation and mitigating the effects of drought;
