Afghanistan thanks the Secretary-General for his report on assistance in mine clearance and draws the attention of the United Nations to the country's particular problem: the presence of 10 million landmines planted in Afghan soil during the 14 years of armed aggression in the 1980s and by forces aided from the outside in the later conflict in Afghanistan.
