The rest are now in the judgement drafting phase and the workload remains heavy, since the work in those cases remains substantial in terms of judicial deliberations and judgement drafting.

2. The Tribunal continued to face a variety of challenges, including fair trial concerns, staffing constraints and parallel assignment of judges to several ongoing trials, that had affected the duration of trials and judgement drafting.

Additionally, the Appeals Chamber heard appeals in three cases concerning four persons (Théoneste Bagosora, Anatole Nsengiyumva, Aloys Ntabakuze, Dominique Ntawukulilyayo) that are in the deliberations and judgement drafting stage.

A. Judicial calendar and management of proceeding 38. Between November 2009 and May 2010, 11 different sections of the Trial Chambers used the four courtrooms of the Tribunal in 12 different cases to hear evidence, closing arguments, initial appearances and pre-trial matters, while intense out-of-courtroom pre-trial, trial and judgement drafting work continued at the same time in all three Chambers.
