Aware of the efforts of the Governments and peoples of Haiti, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and other affected countries to save lives and alleviate the suffering of the victims of Hurricane Tomas,

Encourages the Governments of Haiti, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and other affected countries, in conjunction with relevant partners, to develop further strategies aimed at preventing and mitigating natural disasters, in accordance with the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction;

5. During the period under review, the Security Council adopted a number of decisions aimed at fine-tuning the sanctions regime against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) with a view to maximizing its political impact and minimizing its collateral damage to the neighbouring and other affected countries.
٥ - خلال الفترة قيد الاستعراض، اتخذ مجلس اﻷمن عددا من القرارات بهدف زيادة إحكام نظام الجزاءات المفروضة على جمهورية يوغوسلافيا الاتحادية )صربيا والجبل اﻷسود( بغية تحقيق أقصى قدر من التأثير السياسي والتقليل إلى أدنى حد مما يصحبها من أضرار تلحق بالبلدان المجاورة وغيرها من البلدان المتضررة.

69. In the context of its continued efforts to maximize the political impact and to minimize the collateral damage of the sanctions imposed on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro), the Security Council has adopted a number of decisions that are particularly relevant to mitigating the special economic problems of the neighbouring and other affected countries.
٦٩ - قام مجلس اﻷمن، في سياق جهوده المستمرة الرامية إلى زيادة اﻷثر السياسي للجزاءات المفروضة على جمهورية يوغوسلافيا الاتحادية )صربيا والجبل اﻷسود( إلى أقصى حد، وتقليل الضرر الجانبي الناجم عنها إلى أدنى حد باتخاذ عدد من المقررات الهامة بشكل خاص بالنسبة لمسألة تخفيف حدة المشاكل الاقتصادية للبلدان المجاورة وغيرها من البلدان المتضررة.

105. The regional meeting for Northern Mediterranean, Central and Eastern European and other affected country Parties in preparation to COP 6 will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, in July 2003.
