The mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, which consist of the Joint Monitoring Committee, the Implementation Monitoring Committee and the International Contact Group on Liberia, are also functioning more effectively.

In April, the Electoral Assistance Division of the Department of Political Affairs sent an assessment mission to Liberia to develop proposals on the role that the United Nations could play in supporting the electoral process, in cooperation with other stakeholders such as ECOWAS, the African Union, the European Union and the International Contact Group on Liberia, as envisaged in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.
