تتعهد الدول الأطــراف في هذا العهد باحترام حرية الآباء ... في اختيار مدارس لأولادهم غير المدارس الحكومية، شريطة تقيد المدارس المختارة بمعايير التعليم الدنيا التي قد تفرضها أو تقرها الدولة، وبتأمين تربية أولئك الأولاد دينياً وخلقياً وفقاً لقناعاتهم الخاصة.

28- تحوي المادة 13(3) عنصرين، الأول هو أن تتعهد الدول الأطراف باحترام حرية الآباء والأوصياء في تأمين تربية أولادهم دينياً وخلقياً وفقاً لقناعاتهم الخاصة(14).

In addition, coercive practices may also violate the rights of parents " to ensure the religious and moral education of their children in conformity with their own convictions " (art. 18, para. 4, of the Covenant).

25- ووفقاً للفقرة 4 من المادة 18 من العهد الدولي الخاص بالحقوق المدنية والسياسية، فإن الدول " تتعهد باحترام حرية الوالدين، أو الأوصياء عند وجودهم، لتأمين تربية أولئك الأولاد دينياً وخلقياً وفقاً لقناعاتهم الخاصة " .

The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, in article 18: “Everyone shall have the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. [...] The State Parties [...] undertake to have respect for the liberty of parents [...] to ensure the religious and moral education of their children in conformity with their own convictions.”
