In its contentious jurisdiction, it could deal with any dispute concerning the interpretation or application of the provisions of the Convention that was submitted to it in accordance with Part XV of the Convention (Settlement of Disputes).
وفي سياق اختصاصها بفض المنازعات، بإمكانها النظر في أي نزاع بشأن تفسير أو تطبيق أحكام الاتفاقية يعرض عليها وفقا للجزء الخامس عشر من الاتفاقية (تسوية المنازعات).

For that reason, I would like to thank the sponsors of the draft resolution for noting the Tribunal's continued and significant contribution to the settlement of disputes by peaceful means in accordance with Part XV of the Convention and for underlining the important role and authority of the Tribunal concerning the interpretation or application of the Convention and the Agreement relating to the Implementation of Part XI of the Convention.

In its resolution 58/240 of 23 December 2003, the General Assembly has noted " with satisfaction the continued contribution of [the Tribunal] to the peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with Part XV of the Convention " and has underlined " the important role and authority of the Tribunal concerning the interpretation or application of the Convention and the Agreement " .
