49- ولاحظت اللجنة الفرعية أنَّ حكومة كينيا قد استضافت في مومباسا المؤتمر الرابع للقيادات الأفريقية بشأن تسخير علوم وتكنولوجيا الفضاء لأغراض التنمية المستدامة عن موضوع " تكوين رؤية مشتركة عن الفضاء في أفريقيا " ، الذي عُقد من 26 إلى 28 أيلول/سبتمبر 2011.

the Subcommittee noted that space weather events could have a significant disruptive impact on the infrastructure of countries located at lower latitudes, and that such countries could also become vulnerable owing to technological and economic interdependence and the growing importance of space assets in the delivery of vital services.
178- ولاحظت اللجنة الفرعية أنَّ ظواهر طقس الفضاء يمكن أن يكون لها تأثير خطير مزعزع للبنية التحتية للبلدان الواقعة على خطوط العرض المنخفضة، كما أنَّ تلك البلدان قد تصبح معرَّضة للمخاطر من جرّاء الترابط التكنولوجي والاقتصادي وتنامي أهمية المعدّات الفضائية في إيصال الخدمات الحيوية.
