At the same time, Arab and African customs demand that refugees and all other new arrivals must receive a positive welcome, based on the dictum for which the Sudanese are renowned, namely that guests must be treated with respect.

On behalf of the delegation of Mexico, I would like to take a brief moment to express our gratitude and appreciation to Australia and to the other countries that have participated, including Mexico, in this side event, especially given the conditions that have prevailed in the Conference on Disarmament for many years.
