The Commission held two sessions in 2011, the seventy-second, which was held from 22 March to 1 April at United Nations Headquarters in New York, and the seventy-third, which was held from 18 to 29 July at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) headquarters in Paris.
4 - عقدت اللجنة دورتين في عام 2011، هما الدورة الثانية والسبعون، التي انعقدت في الفترة من 22 آذار/مارس إلى 1 نيسان/أبريل بمقر الأمم المتحدة في نيويورك، والدورة الثالثة والسبعون، التي انعقدت في الفترة من 18 حتى 29 تموز/يوليه بمقر منظمة التربية والعلم والثقافة (يونسكو) التابعة للأمم المتحدة في باريس.

In that context, we are very puzzled by what two States Members of the Organization have done in punishing UNESCO for granting membership to Palestine. Those two States have used weak and unconvincing excuses that could only be understood in the context of protecting Israel at the expense of the basic rights of Palestinians.
في هذا الصدد، نحن نستغرب جدا أن تقوم دولتان معينتان عضوان في هذه المنظمة الدولية بمعاقبة منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والثقافة والعلم (يونسكو) بسبب قبول هذه المنظمة لعضوية فلسطين فيها، وذلك تحت حجج واهية غير مقنعة لا يمكن فهمها إلا في إطار حماية إسرائيل فقط على حساب حقوق الفلسطينيين السياسية.

In this connection I recall the following words in the Constitution of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO): " since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defences of peace must be constructed " .
وبهذا الصدد، أذكّر بالكلمات التالية من دستور منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (يونسكو): " بما أن الحروب تبدأ في عقول الرجال، فيجب بناء الدفاعات عن السلام في عقول الرجال أيضا " .

It was the task of UNESCO -- working together with a number of entities within the United Nations system, Member States and civil society -- to coordinate all of the relevant activities relating to the International Decade for a Culture of Peace.
وقد كُلفت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (يونسكو)، بالتعاون مع كيانات أخرى في منظومة الأمم المتحدة والدول الأعضاء والمجتمع المدني، بتنسيق الأنشطة المتصلة بالعقد الدولي من أجل نشر وتعزيز ثقافة السلام.

In this regard, I should like to praise the work undertaken by UNESCO and, in particular, by the Intergovernmental Committee for Promoting the Return of Cultural Property to its Countries of Origin or its Restitution in Case of Illicit Appropriation.
وفي هذا الصدد، أود أن أُثني على العمل الذي تضطلع به منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (يونسكو)، وخاصة، اللجنة الحكومية الدولية لتشجيع إعادة الممتلكات الثقافية إلى بلدانها الأصلية أو ردها في حالة امتلاكها بصورة غير مشروعة.
