8. Requests the Secretary-General to intensify his efforts to closely cooperate with other entities of the United Nations system and other relevant international organizations and to more effectively coordinate activities undertaken in this area;

Mindful that adherence to the principles and the recommendations contained in the Programme of Action should be facilitated and that they can be ensured only through cooperation and coordinated activities undertaken in this respect by all interested States, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations and other actors,

61. The United Nations regional commissions address ocean and coastal area concerns within a wider mandate and the activities undertaken in this context would benefit from a closer interface with counterpart regional mechanisms of the agencies as well as from increased contact with global and intergovernmental initiatives.
٦١ - وتعالج اللجان اﻹقليمية التابعة لﻷمم المتحدة الشواغل المتعلقة بالمحيطات والمناطق الساحلية في إطار ولاية أوسع ويتوقع أن تستفيد اﻷنشطة المضطلع بها في هذا الصدد من الربط بصورة أوثق مع اﻵليات اﻹقليمية المناظرة التابعة للوكالات وكذلك من زيادة الاتصال بالمبادرات العالمية والحكومية الدولية.

149. All the activities undertaken in this field during the reporting period were designed to support and strengthen activities for the implementation of the Second United Nations Transport and Communications Decade for Africa Programme and constituted the basis on which future activities for the implementation of the relevant Decade projects would be based.
١٤٩ - وجميع اﻷنشطة المضطلع بها في هذا الميدان خلال الفترة المشمولة بالتقرير استهدفت دعم وتعزيز اﻷنشطة اللازمة لتنفيذ برنامج عقد اﻷمم المتحدة الثاني للنقل والمواصلات في افريقيا وكانت بمثابة أساس ترتكز عليه اﻷنشطة المقبلة لتنفيذ مشاريع العقد ذات الصلة.

Since that date, in successive annual resolutions which include resolution 49/50 of 9 December 1994 and resolution 50/44 of 11 December 1995, the General Assembly has invited all States to provide information on the activities undertaken in this respect and requested the Secretary-General to submit reports on the progressive development of international law and its codification.
