A one-time triennial budget could yield a number of benefits, including savings through the reduced frequency of meetings over the period, and bring the Basel Convention budget cycle into line with the UNEP and Stockholm Convention biennial budgets, as recommended by the Ad hoc Joint Working Group on enhancing cooperation and coordination.
