8. Promotion of security and support to disarmament processes are instrumental to the establishment of an area of dialogue, exchanges and cooperation in the Mediterranean basin.
٨ - إن تعزيز اﻷمن ودعم عمليات نزع السلاح هما أمران ضروريان ﻹنشاء منطقة للحوار والمبادلات والتعاون في حوض البحر اﻷبيض المتوسط.

That is why this draft resolution encourages precisely the kinds of efforts that are being made by the Mediterranean countries jointly to define their future relations in order to meet common challenges through appropriate means, in a spirit of partnership aimed at turning the Mediterranean Basin into an area of dialogue, exchanges and cooperation, guaranteeing peace, stability and prosperity for all.
