The present report has been prepared pursuant to the provisions of Security Council resolution 1612 (2005) and is presented to the Security Council as the first country report on the situation of children and armed conflict in Chad.

1. At its 9th meeting, on 19 July 2007, the Working Group examined a report of the Secretary-General on children and armed conflict in Chad (S/2007/400), introduced by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General.

The Committee notes with concern that 45 per cent of women and girls are victims of some form of genital mutilation, according to the report of the Secretary-General on children and armed conflict in Chad (S/2007/400).
وتلاحظ اللجنة بقلق أيضاً أن نسبة الفتيات والنساء اللائي وقعن ضحية بعض أشكال تشويه الأعضاء التناسلية تبلغ 45 في المائة وفقاً لتقرير الأمين العام عن الأطفال والصراع المسلح في تشاد (S/2007/400).

5. At that meeting, the Group also discussed the report of the Secretary-General on children and armed conflict in Chad (S/2007/400).

14. At its 10th meeting, on 18 September 2007, the Working Group adopted conclusions with respect to the report of the Secretary-General on children and armed conflict in Chad (S/2007/400).

Reaffirming also its resolution 1612 (2005) of 26 July 2005 on children and armed conflict, taking note of the report of the SecretaryGeneral on children and armed conflict in Chad and the recommendations contained therein, and recalling the conclusions regarding Chad subsequently adopted by its Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict,
