The demand from Member States for electoral assistance remains high; they have recognized the need for strengthening democratic processes, electoral institutions and national capacity-building and have requested the United Nations to continue to provide technical advice and other assistance to requesting States and electoral institutions in order to strengthen their democratic processes (General Assembly resolution 64/155).
