The Bonn Guidelines on Access to Genetic Resources and fair and equitable sharing of the Benefits Arising Out of their Utilization, adopted by the sixth meeting of the Conference of the Parties in 2002, elaborate on the provisions of article 15, including by detailing possible elements for a prior informed consent and types of benefit-sharing arrangements.

Taking into account the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Development Agenda and without prejudice to the work undertaken in other forums, UNCTAD, within its mandate, should continue to undertake research and analysis on trade and development aspects of intellectual property, including on the protection of traditional knowledge, genetic resources and folklore and fair and equitable sharing.
