At its second session, the United Nations Forum on Forests invited countries and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests to review and report on subsidies that encourage deforestation and forest degradation.

63. Also at its 6th meeting, on 26 January, the Forum held an interactive dialogue among Member States, major groups and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, moderated by Alexander Buck, Executive Director, International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO).

3. The Forum held an interactive discussion among Member States, major groups and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) at its 5th meeting, on 26 January 2011.

The Workshop identified a general basis for collaboration, and also some immediate actions that would greatly increase collaboration between the United Nations Forum on Forests, the Convention on Biological Diversity and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests.

40. In order to support the transfer of environmentally sound technologies to and within countries, the Ad Hoc Expert Group strongly advises the United Nations Forum on Forests to recommend to Member States and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests to consider the adoption of the following actions:

He recalled numerous intersessional activities that had taken place since the first meeting, including the six facilitative process workshops, inputs from member States, major groups and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, the Advisory Group on Finance study and the Collaborative Partnership on Forests Organization-Led Initiative, which had produced over 1,000 pages of reports on forest financing.

(j) Invite Member States and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests to provide support to research programmes targeted at identifying, refining and extending indigenous environmentally sound technologies that can be used to incorporate and preserve traditional forest-related knowledge.

Encourages donor countries and other countries in a position to do so and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests to make voluntary financial contributions to the Forum Trust Fund to enable the Forum secretariat, with the assistance of the National Forest Programme Facility, to effectively assist, on request, in the preparation of voluntary national reports;

VIII. Issues for further consideration 55. The new working modalities of the United Nations Forum on Forests as well as the changing modalities of the work of the Economic and Social Council will require more interaction and sharing of perspectives with forest-related regional and subregional bodies, mechanisms, processes and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests in the work of the Forum.

(c) To provide financial resources to support the Forum's facilitative process in addressing information and data gaps related to forests and economic development, as part of its intersessional activities in preparation for the eleventh session, to be held in 2015, in collaboration with countries and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests.

(d) To conduct activities to address information and data gaps related to forests and economic development as part of the intersessional activities of the Forum's facilitative process in preparation for the eleventh session, to be held in 2015, in collaboration with countries and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests;

(c) Invite Member States and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests, in particular the World Bank, GEF and the International Tropical Timber Organization, to facilitate and develop an assessment and exploration of how to expand support for microcredit linked to enabling the transfer of environmentally sound technologies, especially for local communities;

As part of the review of the effectiveness of the international arrangement on forests (see resolution 1/1, paras. 39 and 40), countries and members of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests have been requested to report on the implementation of the resolutions and decisions contained in table 3, submitted to the fifth session of the Forum.
