Before giving the floor to the next speakers, I should like to invite the Secretary—General of the Conference and Personal Representative of the Secretary—General of the United Nations to inform us on the resources allocated to the Conference for its current session.

I should now like to invite the Secretary—General of the Conference and Personal Representative of the Secretary—General of the United Nations, Mr. Vladimir Petrovsky, to make a statement.

Moreover, I would like to pay tribute to Mr. Vladimir Petrovsky, the Secretary—General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the Secretary—General of the United Nations, as well as to his deputy, Mr. Abdelkader Bensmail, and the members of the secretariat for all the support they are providing to facilitate the work of the Conference.
وفضلا عن هذا، أود أن أوجه الشكر إلى السيد فلاديمير بتروفسكي، أمين عام مؤتمر نزع السلاح والممثل الشخصي لﻷمين العام لﻷمم المتحدة، وكذلك لنائبه السيد عبد القادر بن اسماعيل، وأعضاء اﻷمانة على كل ما قدموه من دعم لتيسير أعمال المؤتمر.

In this regard I would like to express our delegation's deep appreciation to the Secretary—General of the CD and Personal Representative of the Secretary—General of the United Nations, Mr. Vladimir Petrovsky, for his valuable contribution to our ongoing discussions on the agenda for the current session of the Conference.
وأود في هذا الصدد أن أعرب عن تقدير وفدي البالغ لﻷمين العام لمؤتمر نزع السلاح والممثل الشخصي لﻷمين العام لﻷمم المتحدة السيد فلاديمير بتروفسكي على مساهمته في مناقشاتنا الجارية بشأن جدول أعمال الدورة الحالية لمؤتمر نزع السلاح.

By the same token, I am convinced that the wealth of experience and wise counsel of Mr. Vladimir Petrovsky, Secretary—General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the Secretary—General of the United Nations, of his deputy, Mr. Abdelkader Bensmail, and of all members of the secretariat will be of great help in performing my functions as President of this body.
كما إنني مقتنع بأن الخبرة القيﱢمة والمشورة الحكيمة لدى السيد فلاديمير بتروفسكي، اﻷمين العام لمؤتمر نزع السلاح والممثل الشخصي لﻷمين العام لﻷمم المتحدة، ولدى نائبه، السيد عبد القادر بن اسماعيل ولدى سائر أعضاء اﻷمانة، ستساعدني مساعدة كبيرة في تأدية المهام الموكلة إليﱠ بوصفي رئيسا لهذه الهيئة.

I am also very grateful to Mr. Vladimir Petrovsky, the Secretary—General of the Conference on Disarmament and Personal Representative of the Secretary—General of the United Nations, his deputy, Mr. Abdelkader Bensmail, and all their staff, and I am convinced they will be of great assistance in performing my functions as the CD's President.
