In this context, the Committee listened with interest to the briefing on initiatives taken by the Republic of Angola, the Central African Republic, the Republic of the Congo, the Gabonese Republic, the Republic of Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Chad and the Regional Centre on Small Arms.

It should be noted that both ECOWAS and the Regional Centre on Small Arms, covering 12 countries in the Great Lakes region and Horn of Africa, reported during the period that concerted action had been taken at the regional level to prevent proliferation and cross-border flows of small arms and light weapons that threaten regional stability.
