At the same session, the Assembly endorsed the recommendations of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development on institutional arrangements for its follow-up, particularly those on the establishment of a high-level Commission on Sustainable Development, as a functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (resolution 47/191).
