36. Cooperation between the United Nations and the Council of Europe has been further strengthened through direct contacts between the secretariats of the two organizations and between the specialized agencies and bodies of the United Nations system and the Council of Europe.

We also welcome and encourage the organization of annual meetings between the secretariats of the two organizations, such as the recent one held in Addis Ababa from 6 to 8 May 1998, to review the implementation of existing programmes of cooperation and to agree on new ones, as well as on follow-up action.

9. The agreement also contains provisions on ensuring effective cooperation between the secretariats of the two organizations and on arranging for the exchange, upon the request of the other, of information and documentation relating to specific areas or activities of common interest with a view to ensuring a better complementarity of action.
٩ - ويتضمن الاتفاق أيضا أحكاما بشأن كفالة تحقيق التعاون الفعال بين أمانتي المنظمتين وبشأن تنظيم تبادل المعلومات والوثائق بناء على طلب المنظمة اﻷخرى، في مجالات محددة أو أنشطة ذات أهمية مشتركة وذلك بغرض كفالة تحسين تكامل اﻷنشطة.

Invites the Secretary-General of the United Nations to take the appropriate measures, in consultation with the Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, to ensure that the needed effective cooperation and liaison between the secretariats of the two organizations is undertaken in order to ensure complementary actions between the two organizations;
٢ - تدعو اﻷمين العام لﻷمم المتحدة إلى اتخاذ التدابير المناسبة، بالتشاور مع المدير العام للمنظمة الدولية للهجرة، لكفالة تحقيق التعاون والاتصال الفعالين اللازمين بين أمانتي المنظمتين من أجل كفالة اتخاذ اﻹجراءات المتكاملة بين المنظمتين؛

2. Invites the Secretary-General of the United Nations to take the necessary measures, in consultation with the Secretary-General of the Pacific Islands Forum, to promote and expand cooperation and coordination between the secretariats of the two organizations in order to increase the capacity of the organizations to attain their common objectives;
