Under those provisions, a public servant who, by reason of his or her office or functions, obtained an unsubstantiated increase in assets, provided that the act did not constitute another offence, would be liable to a term of ordinary imprisonment of from two to eight years and a fine equivalent to the amount of the enrichment, and he or she would be barred from public office for the term of the main penalty.
