On 13 April, at informal consultations, the delegation of Qatar proposed a further draft statement by the President on the upsurge of violence in the Middle East.

As far as expansion of membership is concerned, it is of course decision CD/1356 itself which stipulates that " the Conference will review the situation following the presentation of progress reports by the President on ongoing consultations at the end of each part of its annual session " .
أما فيما يتعلق بزيادة عدد أعضاء المؤتمر، فالقرار CD/1356 هو بالطبع الذي ينص على أن " يستعرض المؤتمر الحالة بعد تقديم تقارير مرحلية من الرئيس عن المشاورات الجارية في نهاية كل جزء من دورته السنوية " .

As you are aware, the decision taken by the Conference in document CD/1356 requires that " the Conference will review the situation following the presentation of progress reports by the President on ongoing consultations at the end of each part of its annual session " .
كما تدركون، يقضي القرار الذي اتخذه المؤتمر في الوثيقة CD/1356 بأن " يستعرض المؤتمر الحالة بعد تقديم تقارير مرحلية من الرئيس عن المشاورات الجارية في نهاية كل جزء من دورته السنوية " .

During the consultations, the members of the Council heard a briefing by the Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations on the situation in Prevlaka and were also briefed by the President on the views of the troop-contributing countries expressed during the meeting held on 9 January.
