To that end, it requested the Secretariat to organize briefings by the Rule of Law Unit biannually, when sessions of the Commission were held in New York.

The Group is chaired by the Deputy Secretary-General and supported by the Rule of Law Unit (see A/63/226, paras. 46-48), complemented by a system of lead entities responsible for coordinating and facilitating efforts in their respective subsectors of the rule of law (see A/61/636-S/2006/980 and Corr.1).

1.148 In its resolution 62/70, the General Assembly expressed its support for the establishment of the Group, supported by the Rule of Law Unit in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General, under the leadership of the Deputy Secretary-General, and requested the Secretary-General to provide details on the staffing and other requirements for the Unit without delay to the Assembly for its consideration during the sixty-second session.
