3. The following recommendations were made with regard to the underlying threat of illegal cannabis production in Africa:

The gross cannabis production was estimated to be 47,400 metric tons and the potential resin production 3,080 metric tons. 96,600 households were found to produce cannabis in 2003.
وقدِّر أن إجمالي إنتاج القنّب يبلغ 400 47 طن متري وأن إنتاج الراتينج المحتمل يبلغ 080 3 طنا متريا. ووجد أن 600 96 أسرة كانت تنتج القنّب في عام 2003.

(a) Strong political commitment was required by Governments of African countries and the international community in order for effective action to be taken against illicit cannabis production, trafficking and abuse;

The Fifteenth Meeting of HONLEA, Africa, considered the following issues: (a) impact upon African States of transit traffic in illicit drugs; (b) the underlying threat of illegal cannabis production in Africa; and (c) protection of witnesses.

69- ولعلَّ لجنة المخدِّرات تود أن تطلب من المكتب، في حال توافر موارد من خارج الميزانية، الاستمرار في بحث أساليب الزراعة المختلفة ودور بذور القنّب في هذا بغرض الوصول إلى فهم أفضل لتأثيرات التسويق التجاري لإنتاج القنّب.

(a) The high levels of illicit cannabis production in Afghanistan should be of concern to both the Government of Afghanistan and the Governments of the States members of the Subcommission;
