The Department intends to contribute to this effort, not only by developing more effective modalities for the involvement of civil society in intergovernmental processes, but also by ensuring that the engagement of different divisions of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs with non-governmental organizations and civil society is rationalized and better coordinated.

(b) Strengthening research and analysis, improving, rationalizing and streamlining existing methods of work and facilitating the involvement of civil society in intergovernmental processes with a view, inter alia, to enhancing effective functioning of intergovernmental and expert bodies, including the work of the Commission for Social Development and the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues;
(ب) تعزيز البحث والتحليل، وتحسين طرائق العمل وترشيدها وتبسيطها وتيسير مشاركة المجتمع المدني في العمليات الحكومية الدولية بغية التوصل، في جملة أمور، إلى تعزيز الأداء الفعال للهيئات الحكومية الدولية وهيئات الخبراء، بما في ذلك أعمال لجنة التنمية الاجتماعية والمنتدى الدائم المعني بقضايا الشعوب الأصلية؛
