To promote the acquisition, assessment and exchange of environmental knowledge and information and to provide technical advice on the formulation and implementation of environmental programmes within the United Nations system;

Development efforts, including poverty reduction, and humanitarian assistance need to take full account of knowledge about the contribution of environment and ecosystem services to the enhancement of human wellbeing. Investing in infrastructures and capacities for environmental knowledge and information is therefore also an investment in sustainable development.

(e) To promote the contribution of the relevant international scientific and other professional communities to the acquisition, assessment and exchange of environmental knowledge and information and, as appropriate, to the technical aspects of the formulation and implementation of environmental programmes within the United Nations system;
)ﻫ( أن يشجع إسهام الجماعات العلمية الدولية ذات الصلة بالموضوع وغيرها من الجماعات المهنية في اكتساب المعارف والمعلومات البيئية وتقييمها وتبادلها، وكذلك في النواحي التقنية لصياغة وتنفيذ البرامج البيئية ضمن إطار مجموعة مؤسسات اﻷمم المتحدة، تبعاً لمقتضى الحال؛

(هـ)تشجيع إسهام الجماعات العلمية الدولية المختصة وغيرها من الجماعات المهنية في اكتساب المعارف والمعلومات البيئية وتقييمها وتبادلها، وإسهامها كذلك، حسب الاقتضاء، في النواحي التقنية لصياغة وتنفيذ البرامج البيئية في إطار منظومة الأمم المتحدة؛
