255. Various actions have been taken in the context of environmental remediation programmes.

The Council also referred the request by certain Governments for guidance as to the use of compensation awards for environmental remediation programmes to a future informal meeting of the Working Group.
كما أحال المجلس الطلب الذي تقدمت به بعض الحكومات للحصول على توجيهات بشأن استعمال التعويضات الممنوحة لبرامج إصلاح البيئة إلى واحد من الاجتماعات غير الرسمية المقبلة للفريق العامل.

There are three categories being considered: goods to be used in environmental remediation or monitoring, technologies and products that are more environmentally friendly than average, and goods that have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner.

5- يقرر أن يطلب إلى الحكومات صاحبة المطالبات أن تقدم إلى الأمانة كل ستة أشهر تقارير مرحلية عن حالة الأموال المتلقاة ومشاريع الإصلاح البيئي، وذلك لضمان إنفاق الأموال على الاضطلاع بأنشطة الإصلاح البيئي إنفاقاً شفافاً ومناسباً ولضمان بقاء المشاريع الممولة أنشطةَ إصلاحٍ معقولة.

5. The Government's Social and environmental remediation Programme includes a national system of indicators of environmental and social liabilities, which is the first instrument of its kind in Latin America. The system maintains a statistical log of the damage caused by the activities of the hydrocarbon industry and their impact on society.

7. The Follow-up Programme was established by Governing Council decision 258 (2005) following requests from the Government of Iraq in December 2003 for a mechanism to monitor the financial and technical implementation of environmental remediation projects being undertaken with approximately $4.3 billion in funds awarded by the Compensation Commission.
7 - وأنشئ برنامج المتابعة هذا بموجب مقرر مجلس الإدارة 258 (2005) بناء على طلب حكومة العراق في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2003 إيجاد آلية لرصد الإدارة المالية والتقنية لمشاريع الإصلاح البيئي المضطلع بها التي دفعت لها لجنة التعويضات أموالا قدرت بحوالي 4.3 بلايين دولار.

The Council recommended that UNEP's possible involvement in monitoring the environmental remediation programmes of successful claimant Governments continue to be explored, and that this issue be referred to a future informal meeting of the Working Group.
وأوصى المجلس بمواصلة استكشاف إمكانية إشراك برنامج الأمم المتحدة للبيئة في رصد برامج إصلاح البيئة التابعة للحكومات التي حظيت مطالباتها بالموافقة، وبإحالة هذه المسألة إلى واحد من الاجتماعات غير الرسمية المقبلة للفريق العامل.

5- يقرِّر ضماناً لإنفاق الأموال على القيام بأنشطة إصلاح البيئة بطريقة شفافة وملائمة وضماناً لأن تبقى المشاريع المموَّلة أنشطة إصلاح معقولة، توجيه الحكومات إلى أن تقدم إلى الأمانة كل ستة أشهر تقارير مرحلية عن وضع الأموال المتلقاة وعن مشاريع إصلاح البيئة.

The Council also considered the request made by the Government of Iraq in the above-mentioned letter dated 16 December 2003 and at the opening plenary meeting of the session, concerning the participation of Iraq's entities in the environmental remediation projects financed by the United Nations Compensation Commission awards, and concluded that it is not within the Council's capacity to take action on this matter.
ونظر المجلس أيضا في طلب تقدمت به حكومة العراق في الرسالة المذكورة أعلاه المؤرخة 16 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2003 والجلسة الافتتاحية العامة للدورة، بشأن مشاركة كيانات عراقية في مشاريع إصلاح البيئة الممولة من التعويضات الممنوحة من لجنة الأمم المتحدة للتعويضات، وخلص إلى استنتاج مفاده أنه ليس من صلاحية المجلس اتخاذ إجراء بهذا الشأن.
