On 2 June, the United Nations Human Rights Council decided to dispatch an independent international fact-finding mission to investigate violations of international law resulting from the attacks on the flotilla.

15. In June 2010, the Human Rights Council adopted resolution 14/1, establishing an international fact-finding mission to investigate violations of international law resulting from an Israeli attack on a flotilla carrying aid to Gaza (see para. 45 of the present report).

On 1 and 2 June, at its fourteenth session, the Council convened for the first time an urgent debate on " the grave attacks by Israeli forces against the humanitarian boat convoy " of 31 May and decided, in its resolution 14/1, to dispatch an independent international fact-finding mission to investigate violations of international law, including international humanitarian and human rights law, resulting from the attacks.

13. Pressure had also been brought to bear on the United Nations Human Rights Council, which had sent an international fact-finding mission to investigate violations of international law, including international humanitarian and human rights law, resulting from the Israeli attacks on the Freedom Flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

At the 24th meeting, on 27 September 2010, the Chairperson-Rapporteur of the international fact-finding mission to investigate violations of international law, including international humanitarian and human rights law, resulting from the Israeli attacks on the flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian assistance, Justice Karl Hudson-Phillips, presented the mission's report (A/HRC/15/21).

8. On 1 June 2010, the Human Rights Council had adopted resolution 14/1 condemning in the strongest terms the Israeli attack on the aid flotilla, calling on Israel to immediately release those detained, and deciding to dispatch an independent international fact-finding mission to investigate violations of international law resulting from the Israeli attacks.
