45. In 2006, The Delegate Minister for the Family and the Status of Women commissioned a national survey on violence against women, based on interviews with a sample of 2,043 women aged 1964 years.

According to a study by the Office of the Minister for the Family and the Status of Women, 33.5 per cent of all those in a sample of persons attacked in one way or another, said that they had not reported the incident, which represents 78 per cent of that population.

33. With regard to the Ministry for the Family and the Status of Women and its programme of action (page 14), the Committee wished to know whether a national action plan was in place and would appreciate more details on the budget allocated to those programmes and on specific measures taken in the areas mentioned.

Since the government reshuffle in June 2002, five women have been appointed to government positions, including a Minister for the Family and the Status of Women.
ومنذ عملية إعادة تشكيل الوزارة التي جرت في حزيران/يونيه 2002 دخلت خمس نساء الوزارة، منهن وزيرة مفوضة مكلفة بشؤون الأسرة وبحالة المرأة.

Accordingly, the Ministry for the Family and the Status of Women has launched and is coordinating the process of preparing the NPA in consultation with Government institutions, civil society, children and adolescents.
