The main responsibility for resolving the fate of the missing persons lies with the local authorities, mainly the three commissions: the State Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Tracing of Missing Persons, the Office for the Exchange of Prisoners and Missing Persons of the Croatian Side of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the State Commission of the Republika Srpska for the Exchange of Prisoners of War and Missing Persons.
