For example, article 20 of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (General Assembly resolution 55/25, annex I), refers in this respect to controlled delivery, electronic and other forms of surveillance and undercover operations.

Article 20 of the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime encourages, insofar as possible and permissible under domestic law, the appropriate use of special investigative techniques such as electronic or other forms of surveillance and undercover operations by competent authorities for the purpose of effectively combating organized crime.
7- تشجِّع المادة 20 من اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة الجريمة المنظمة عبر الوطنية، قدر الإمكان والمسموح به بموجب القوانين الداخلية، على استخدام أساليب التحرِّي الخاصة، ومنها مثلا المراقبة الإلكترونية أو غيرها من أشكال المراقبة والعمليات المستترة، استخداماً مناسباً من جانب السلطات المختصة لغرض مكافحة الجريمة المنظمة مكافحة فعالة.
