Since the 2007 report of the Secretary-General on strengthening the capacity of the United Nations to manage and sustain peace operations (A/61/858), the authorized strength of police components in peacekeeping operations has increased by over 65 per cent and reached the level of over 10,000 personnel, which has required an adequate increase in operational and strategic support from the Police Division.
