According to the Government, under that Act, foreign legislation that seeks, directly or indirectly, to restrict or impede free trade or the free movement of capital, goods or persons to the detriment of a particular country or group of countries shall not be applicable or entail any legal effects in Argentine territory.

On 5 September 1997, the Government of the Argentine Republic promulgated Act No. 24,871, under which foreign legislation which is aimed, directly or indirectly, at restricting or impeding the free flow of trade and the movement of capital, goods or persons to the detriment of a given country or group of countries shall neither be applicable nor have legal effects of any kind within the national territory.
