C. Cooperation and coordination within the United Nations system 153. FAO is cooperating with IMO and ILO in the revision of the " Code of Safety for Fishermen and Fishing Vessels " and the " Voluntary Guidelines for the Construction of Small Fishing Vessels " .

6. The representative of SBC informed the meeting that the second session of the Open-ended Working Group (OEWG2) that met in Geneva in October 2003 considered the legal aspects of the dismantling of ships as well as co-operation with IMO and ILO on this issue.

1. The sixth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Basel Convention (COP 6) requested SBC to explore the possibility of the development of an inter-agency technical assistance project on ship dismantling together with IMO and ILO, and to consider the establishment of a joint working group with IMO and ILO as a means of achieving a common understanding of the problem and character of the required solutions.
1- طلب الاجتماع السادس للأطراف في اتفاقية بازل من أمانة الاتفاقية أن تستكشف إمكانية الاشتراك مع المنظمة البحرية الدولية ومنظمة العمل الدولية في وضع مشروع مساعدة تقنية مشترك بين الوكالات بشأن تفكيك السفن، والنظر في إنشاء فريق عامل مشترك مع المنظمة البحرية الدولية ومنظمة العمل الدولية كوسيلة لتحقيق تفاهم مشترك للمشكلة وطبيعة الحلول المقترحة.

Decisions OEWG-IV/6 and OEWG-V/7 further requested the Secretariat to continue consultations with the secretariats of IMO and ILO on the issue, to follow closely developments on the issue in both organizations and to report on them to the Conference of the Parties at its eighth meeting.
24 - وطلب المقرران الفريق العامل مفتوح العضوية - 4/6 والفريق العامل مفتوح العضوية - 5/7 كذلك إلى الأمانة أن تواصل المشاورات مع أمانتي المنظمة البحرية الدولية ومنظمة العمل الدولية بشأن هذه القضية، وأن تتابع عن كثب التطورات بشأنها في كلتا المنظمتين وأن تقدم تقريرا عنها إلى مؤتمر الأطراف في اجتماعه الثامن.

The Committee instructed IMO and ILO to remind Governments of IMO resolution A.930(22) concerning guidelines on provision of financial security in case of abandonment of seafarers and to further urge its voluntary implementation, as well as resolution A.931(22) concerning guidelines on shipowners' responsibilities in respect of contractual claims for personal injury to, or death of, seafarers.
