In that decision, the Conference of the Parties approved the guidance elements contained in an appendix to the decision and requested the Secretariat, in collaboration with the Basel Convention regional centres, to assist Parties, particularly developing countries, in implementing the guidance elements at the national level.

To assist Parties in implementing the guidance elements at the national level, the Secretariat, with the Basel Convention Regional Centre for the Arab States and the Government of Egypt, organized a regional training seminar for national port enforcement officers in September 2003 in Port Said, Egypt.
5- ولمساعدة الأطراف في تنفيذ العناصر التوجيهية على المستوى القطري، عقدت الأمانة، بالتعاون مع المركز الإقليمي لاتفاقية بازل للدول العربية ومع حكومة مصر، حلقة علمية تدريبية إقليمية لموظفي الموانئ التنفيذيين المحليين في شهر أيلول/سبتمبر 2005 في مدينة بورسعيد، بمصر.

By decision VI/16, the Conference of the Parties approved guidance elements for detection, prevention and control of illegal traffic in hazardous wastes and requested the Secretariat, in collaboration with the Basel Convention regional centres, to assist Parties in implementing the guidance elements at the national level.
84 - اعتمد مؤتمر الأطراف بموجب المقرر 6/16 العناصر التوجيهية لاكتشاف الاتجار غير المشروع ومنعه ومراقبته في النفايات الخطرة، وطلب إلى الأمانة، بالتعاون مع المراكز الإقليمية التابعة لاتفاقية بازل، أن تساعد الأطراف على تنفيذ العناصر التوجيهية على المستوى الوطني.

To assist Parties in implementing the guidance elements at the national level, the Secretariat, with the Basel Convention regional centres and relevant regional and international organizations, organized a number of training seminars on this subject.

In addition, the Conference called upon the Secretariat to organize training seminars in cooperation, where feasible, with other international organizations, agencies or programmes to assist Parties, particularly developing countries and countries with economies in transition, in implementing the guidance elements on detection of illegal traffic, adopted by the Conference at its sixth meeting.
