The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination takes note of the guidelines on the independence and impartiality of members of the human rights treaty bodies (Addis Ababa Guidelines), and in this regard recalls its general recommendation No. 9 on the independence of experts adopted at its thirty-eighth session in 1990.

Takes note of the report of the Special Rapporteur (E/CN.4/2001/66 and Add.1-2) and regrets the delay in the issuance of the report, and in this regard recalls the existing page limits for reports and the importance of compliance with the six-week rule for the availability of reports in the six official languages of the United Nations;
