Ukraine considers that such missions do not necessarily require specific authorization from the Security Council or its sanctions committees, and can be initiated by the Secretary-General upon request from the interested States invoking Article 50 of the Charter.

In particular, they appreciated the attention being paid by ACC to the follow-up to UNCED, coordination of humanitarian assistance and its continuum to rehabilitation and development, and the assistance by the United Nations system to the countries invoking Article 50 of the United Nations Charter and to the countries with economies in transition.
