11. The continuing violence and death toll arising from conflict in Israel and the occupied territories were appalling, and it was clear that innocent people were suffering on both sides.

15. During the visit, in January 2008, of the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief to Israel and the occupied territories, she was informed about cases of honour killings carried out in the name of religion with impunity in the Occupied Territories (A/HRC/10/8/Add.2, para. 64).
