Ms. Kiwan (Lebanon) said that the National Commission for Lebanese Women had been established outside the ministerial framework in order to address women's issues common to all government bodies, to maintain contact with civil society organizations and to coordinate with international bodies, and in order to avoid overlap between the various ministries.
